Eat 'til you drop!

It's almost 7 p.m. here and dinner is being prepared by the chefs. Tamales are being made by committee (it's taken most all afternoon) at Island Dream cottage with Lydia Quarles's husband in charge. At Sand Dollar, Del almost set off the smoke alarm while cooking the chicken and steak for fajitas. At some point, three appetizers were made and are being fast consumed as the crowd is beginning to assemble. I am trying to stay out of the way as cooking is not my strong point. I did scrub the kitchen floor on my hands and knees this morning. Since Sand Dollar is the largest house and can comfortably hold all of us, that's where most of the cooking is being done. Nita Byrd (with her foot in a cast) has busied herself straightening everything up and keeping the kitchen somewhat organized.

At this point, the weather has been hot and muggy, but not quite as bad as last year's 100+ degrees. There was a sunset worship service Sunday evening on the beach with Angh Teague as the leader, but I opted out since I "don't do outside" in the summer. I understand there was a very comfortable ocean breeze, though.

The men who were brave enough to come: Mary Libby's Bob, Lydia's Jim, Amy J's Darrell, Neely's John and of course, our "own" Mack have been real troopers! Putting up with us as well as pitching in and helping out whenever necessary.

So far, the same spirit of camaraderie as last year prevails and all is well in wrenland/Jekyll Island.
